WHY I CHOSE TO BE A TEACHER?

As a child, I loved watching the rope walker in Circus. I always admired her bright shiny dress.

I am a teacher and my dresses are not bright and shiny

So, I award myself a “Zero” for being just a teacher.

On growing up, I was in full admiration of khakhi uniform of soldiers and policemen. Now, of course I understand the discipline and hard work behind the glamour. As a teacher, I have to be an embodiment of these qualities. But no one raises the slogan of “Hail Teacher” as we do for “Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan”.

Hence, I award a zero to myself once again.

Admire film stars? Well, who doesn’t?

I am a teacher. I also give great acting performances depicting various emotions when my students achieve, lose or just to encourage or sometimes just to discipline them. But…. I don’t attract big crowds like film stars.

So, a zero score, once again is inevitable.

Which Indian doesn’t want to be Prime Minister and give soul touching speeches?

As a teacher, I deliver great speeches and talks before my class, plan big shows for them and solve their problems with full enthusiasm and expertise.

But I don’t receive big salutes or claps or international broadcasts for my talks.

Sorry, an award of zero again to me.

I am invariably silent when people discuss money matters because I understand that money matters.

And now, even you could predict why would get a zero again.

Do you know why cricketers are so cool?

Well, because they have many fans.

I am a teacher and I am also very cool.

As even now my score is just a ---zero.

Seen a pot maker making earthen pots?

As a teacher I also use full care, precautions, dexterity, and expertise while shaping future of my country. For this I maintain balance of a rope walker, creativity of an actor and discipline of a soldier.

Like a pot maker, I also use the fire ---of my dedication to burn my pains, sadness, fears, anxieties and tensions of life. What survives then—are the hopes and dreams for future. I know my name will be nowhere in any field but you can’t deny my contribution in each and every field of life. I am not a star but I am the one who give this world many star personalities.

Now, not only me, but you also can’t give me a zero. This time I will get “one”. One and six zeroes---that makes a million, my score.

….Because teacher is ONE in a million. I live not only in the minds of a million but also in their hearts.
